Linden Capital Partners Announces New Hire and Promotions

Mike Watts promoted to Principal; Kam Shah rejoins as Vice President; Neel Varshney promoted to Vice President

Chicago, Illinois (November 19, 2013) – Linden Capital Partners (“Linden”), a leading middle market private equity firm focused on the healthcare and life science industries, today announced that Mike Watts has been promoted to Principal, Kam Shah has rejoined Linden as a Vice President, and Neel Varshney, M.D. has been promoted to Vice President. As part of a team comprised of fourteen investment professionals and eight operating executives with deep experience in Linden’s target healthcare sectors, Mr. Watts, Mr. Shah and Dr. Varshney are responsible for deal origination, transaction execution and portfolio company oversight. Mr. Watts has been involved in principal investing and investment banking since 2003. Prior to Linden, he was an Associate at Brockway Moran & Partners where he evaluated and executed investment opportunities across a wide range of industries, including healthcare services. Mr. Watts began his career at Stephens, Inc. where he focused on M&A advisory and capital raising transactions. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History, summa cum laude, from Washington & Lee University and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.

Mr. Shah has been involved in principal investing and investment banking since 2006. Prior to Linden, he was a private equity Associate at Sun Capital Partners, Inc. Mr. Shah began his career as an investment banking Analyst at Goldman, Sachs & Co. where he focused on M&A advisory, capital raising, and leveraged buyout transactions. Mr. Shah holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance with high honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Dr. Varshney has been involved in the healthcare industry since 2002. Prior to Linden, he was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company, where he worked with private equity and healthcare firms on buyouts, M&A, and growth strategy across healthcare sectors. He also held a business development role at Medtronic, Inc., where he evaluated new medical device and biotech opportunities. Dr. Varshney holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with honors from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an M.D. with honors from Harvard Medical School/MIT (Soros Fellow). He completed his internal medicine internship at Massachusetts General Hospital and was a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford.
