Dr. J. Stark Thompson is the former President, CEO and member of the Board of Directors of Life Technologies, Inc. (LTI;NASDAQ:LTEK), the producer of GIBCO & BRL products. During his 12-year tenure with Life Technologies, he successfully grew the business to revenues of $450mm and increased shareholder value 900%. After Life Technologies was acquired by Invitrogen, Dr. Thompson retired in 2000.

Prior to his role at Life Technologies, he had a very successful 21-year career at the DuPont Company where he held a number of positions globally, culminating in leading the Clinical Systems Division.

Dr. Thompson was formerly a member of the executive Committee of Dexter Corporation, served on the Boards of Directors of Kendro Laboratory Products (an FCEC portfolio company) and ATTO Biosciences. He is currently the non-executive Board Chair of Gene Logic, Inc. (NASDAQ:GLGC) He also has held a number of Board Chair positions in major research institutions and is a member of The American Association for Clinical Chemistry and the American Chemical Society. Dr. Thompson received his BS degree from Muskingum College and his MSc and PhD in Physiological Chemistry from Ohio State University.
