Richard De Schutter, formerly Chairman and CEO of G.D. Searle, is the retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DuPont Pharmaceutical Company. He has also been a director of Ecolab since February 2004. Following a 35-year career at Monsanto Company where he last served as Vice Chairman and Chief Administrative Officer and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of G.D. Searle Pharmaceuticals, Mr. De Schutter transitioned to Pharmacia Corporation when Monsanto was acquired by Pharmacia and Upjohn in 2000. In 2000, Mr. De Schutter joined DuPont Pharmaceutical Company, serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer until the 2001 sale of the company to Bristol-Myers Squibb. Mr. De Schutter holds a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arizona.
